§ 2-2. Open meetings.

  • (a)

    The governing body and all boards, agencies and departments of the city shall conduct their business in open and public sessions fully accessible to the general public except when an executive session is declared. Executive session may only be declared for any subject matter authorized and the procedure mandated in section 25-41-7 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended. Votes may be taken in executive session provided the vote concerns only the subject matter for which the executive session was specifically convened. Votes and final actions taken in executive sessions shall be recorded and included in the minutes as provide by state law.

    (b)

    In the event the regular meeting place of such board, agency or department shall prove to be inadequate space for the conduct of such meetings, upon application to the mayor, and co-ordination by him, any other available facility of the city may be utilized for said meeting.
