§ 16-41. Fire chief—Duties and powers.

  • It shall be the duty of the chief of the fire department to examine the engines, hose, ladders and all other property pertaining to the fire department and to see that the same are in good order and ready for service, and to make a monthly report to the governing body of all matters relative to the condition of the fire department, the number of alarms, the number of fires and amount of loss, and to examine into the origin of all fires, and make report of same; to be present at every fire, and to have full and complete control and command of the fire department, and to so employ the members of the department as to obtain the most effective service. He is empowered to suppress all tumults and disorders occurring at fires, and to call to his aid all bystanders.
